I received my graduate degree from Columbia University School of Social Work , and I am certified Psychoanalyst and a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work. I taught at New York Medical College, Child and Adolescent Unit and have been in private practice for 30 years in White Plains, NY. In addition, I am an online expert blogger for the magazine Psychology Today, my blog, "In the Trenches" focuses on different mental health concerns and relational issues.
I have trained with an experienced and gifted child and adolescent clinician and it was through these sessions, that I honed my skills to become an expert in symbolic and play therapy techniques. Today, it is these same techniques that allow me to understand and work successfully with very young children.
Along with my clinical training and experience, my two children have been my best teachers about life and parenting. They have truly taught me the art of joyful parenting. In my spare time, I am an accomplished photographer, and professional writer. I enjoy spending time outdoors, with my family and friends, and of course Walter, my Airedale Terrier.
